What is SBI PO and SBI PO examination?
SBI PO stands for State Bank of India Probationary Officer. It is one of the most coveted positions in the banking sector in India. The SBI conducts the SBI PO exam annually to recruit eligible candidates for the position of Probationary Officer in its branches across the country.
As a Probationary Officer, one is responsible for various banking activities such as customer service, managing accounts, loan processing, and other administrative tasks. The SBI PO exam is highly competitive and consists of multiple stages including a preliminary exam, a main exam, and a group exercise and interview round.
Candidates who successfully clear all stages of the examination process are appointed as Probationary Officers in the State Bank of India, one of the largest and most prestigious public sector banks in India.
Difficulty level in SBI PO
The difficulty level of clearing the SBI PO examination can vary depending on individual preparation, aptitude, and the level of competition in a particular year. Exam pattern of SBI PO
The SBI PO exam consists of three phases:
1. Preliminary Examination (Prelims):
- This phase consists of objective-type questions.
- The duration of the exam is 1 hour.
- It typically includes three sections:
- English Language
- Quantitative Aptitude
- Reasoning Ability
- The Prelims exam serves as a screening test, and marks obtained in this phase are not considered for final selection.
2. Main Examination (Mains):
- This phase also consists of objective-type questions.
- The duration of the exam is generally 3 hours.
- It usually includes four sections:
- Reasoning & Computer Aptitude
- Data Analysis & Interpretation
- General/Economy/Banking Awareness
- English Language
- Additionally, there might be a descriptive test consisting of letter writing and essay writing. This test is conducted online immediately after the objective-type test.
- Marks obtained in the Mains exam, including both objective and descriptive tests, are considered for final selection.
3. Group Exercises & Interview:
- Candidates who qualify the Mains exam are called for a Group Discussion (GD) and Personal Interview (PI) round.
- The GD and PI round aims to assess the candidate's communication skills, leadership qualities, and suitability for the role of a Probationary Officer.
- Candidates are usually shortlisted for GD and PI based on their performance in the Mains exam.
